Petra ten Hoope-Bender
Petra ten Hoope-Bender is a Senior Associate at ICS Integrare and an independent consultant on women’s health and development. She is a midwife, former Secretary General of the International Confederation of Midwives, former Executive Officer of the Partnership for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health and Director of the Dual Career and Staff Mobility programme at the United Nations. She is the coordinator of the Lancet Series on Midwifery (launched on June 23rd 2014) as well as lead author on the fourth article of the series, the international policy paper. She has expertise in policy development and analysis, organisational development, workforce assessment, advocacy and communications and capacity building. She was part of the author team of the State of the World’s Midwifery report, 2011 and 2014 editions.
