Marie Hatem is a Full Professor at the School of Public Health of the Université de Montréal, Department of Social and Preventive Medicine. She is a researcher at the Research Centre-Sainte-Justine Hospital (Mother and Child’s Network in Quebec-Canada). She is a Nurse and Midwife and holds a Master in Health Administration and a Ph.D in Public Health – Health Care Organization – through the Health Care Professional training and education (developing, revision and evaluating curriculum)..

Her research and development interests cover mainly the reinforcement of Human Resources for Mother, Neonate and child’s Health Care particularly in French speaking countries. Special attention is paid to the role of the midwife in improving the quality of perinatal health care in those countries bearing the burden of the highest rates of mother and child’s mortality.
